LOGLINE:

At her New Year’s Eve party in 1972 Manhattan, exiled Cuban revolutionary Gloria Cienfuegos faces the onslaught of a defiant daughter, party crashers, a rogue hamster, and her worst fears of never returning to her homeland.

Bobby Cannavale & Tzi Ma will star in the film!

And be a part of our communidad by supporting our groundbreaking film, 1972, and our greater mission.

The uniqueness of our film is that the Cuban family is middle-class and are attempting to assimilate to their life here in the U.S. Our story breaks the stereotypes of immigrants and refugees and offers a nuanced portrait of their struggles and hopes.

The Latinx/e community in the United States comprises 19% of the population, yet our representation in films is merely 4%. Of that 4%, we are depicted as criminals 60% of the time. Latinos account for 24% of box office sales and are the fastest growing population in the United States.  This is an audience hungry for new and complex depictions.

We plan to raise awareness for the film and build an audience with the global festival circuit and special screenings with Q&A’s and talk-backs.

1972 is being fiscally sponsored by the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization BREAKING THROUGH THE LENS.
